A Degree of Both Humility and Charity

As I mentioned in my post from Kiawah, I recently read And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini. I think I liked The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns a little better, but I still highly recommend the book. While I was reading, I came across this line from the novel. It stuck with me and serves as an important reminder to not judge others too harshly. We never know the full story, and it is best to assume good intentions.

I have lived a long time, and one thing I have come to see is that one is well served by a degree of both humility and charity when judging the inner workings of another person’s heart  –Khaled Hosseini, And the Mountains Echoed
