Every year before a new season of Game of Thrones starts, Derek and I watch some sort of Episode 0 video that reviews everything that happened in the previous season. It helps me remember what’s going on with all of the different characters, especially because HBO makes me wait 10 months between seasons. #firstworldproblems
To get to the point, I decided to make my own version of an episode 0 on the blog since it’s been almost 6 months (!!!) since my last post and A LOT has happened. Here’s a timeline of what’s happened since my FAQ post back in January:
February 7th: Celebrated my 26th birthday!
February 21st: Derek submitted his rank order list for residency programs.
March 15th: Celebrated 2 years of marriage!
March 18th: MATCH DAY. Found out we were headed to Indiana University in Indianapolis and were very relieved/scared/anxious/excited about it.
March 24th: Contacted our relator for the first time and start talking about buying a house and places to live in Indy.
April 16th – April 18th: Flew out to Indianapolis for my first visit and Derek’s second (if you count his interview day). Started looking at houses immediately. Made an offer on a house Sunday morning, and it was accepted in the afternoon!
April 23rd: Ran the Tar Heel 10-Miler.
May 7th: Derek graduated from medical school!
May 14th: Jared, my brother, graduated from medical school in Kentucky!
May 20th: Re-location cubes arrive at the house and the real packing begins.
May 27th: My last day of work.
May 28th – June 7th: Very delayed, but definitely worth the wait, honeymoon trip to Italy!
June 8th – June 9th: Drove to Indianapolis and closed on the house. Officially first-time homeowners!
June 10th: Participated in a final round interview in the morning and accepted a job offer later that afternoon!
June 16th: Derek started residency orientation.
June 17th: Received notification that I am officially a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (in North Carolina)!
June 24th (today): Derek’s first day of residency!!
And this is technically the future, but I’m adding it anyway . . .
July 5th: First day at my new job!
Whew! I cannot believe we did all of that over the last several months. Especially the May – June stretch. It was insane. And there were, of course, a thousand more little things going on between these big moments including a brutal pediatric ICU rotation for Derek, problems with closing, and all the intricacies of an out-of-state move. More importantly, we had tons of undocumented help from our friends and family, for which we are so grateful.
Needless to say, I’m going to give myself some grace about not blogging during this time period. 🙂 I am excited about starting Brown is the New Pink up again and feel like I’m finally at a place where I can actually enjoy making posts. Can’t wait to share our new adventures in Indianapolis!
